    Pivec Publishing House was established in 2003 in Maribor with the aim of promoting reading and education. They publish over 40 book titles annually, thus becoming one of the largest publishing houses in the region of north-east Slovenia.






    Publishing programme

    Their publishing programme ranges from scientific monograph publications, original and translated literary works for children and adults, handbooks and works from the various areas of interest, such as humanities, sociology, linguistics, medicine, history, law, and business, as well as dictionaries, textbooks and coursebooks. Recently they also started publishing audiobooks and music albums. Their titles can be purchased online on their website.

    Events and the Poetry Tournament

    The publishing programme is enhanced by literary evenings, readings, book presentations, and talks with authors.

    Pivec Publishing House annually organises the Poetry Tournament, where the best Slovene unpublished poem of the year is chosen. In 2012, on the occasion when Maribor held the title of the European Capital of Culture, the tournament was expanded into the European Poetry Tournament, joining poets from 6 European countries.
